Abstract: The present invention generally relates to agas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) system for analyzing naphthalene content in oil samples, comprising: a sample inlet configured to introduce prepared stock solutions with concentrations of 0.46%, 0.23%, 0.12%, and 0.06% mass of naphthalene in toluene; a carrier gas inlet to provide a mobile phase, ensuring consistent flow through the system; an injector port to vaporize the stock solutions for entry into the chromatographic column; a chromatographic column housed in a temperature-controlled oven, configured to separate naphthalene from other components in the stock solutions; an ionization chamber with an electron gun to ionize the separated naphthalene molecules using an electron beam; a plurality of accelerator plates to direct the ionized particles into the mass analyzer; a magnet-based mass analyzer to sort ionized particles based on their mass-to-charge ratio; and a detector to identify and quantify naphthalene based on its unique mass spectrum signature.
