Abstract: ABSTRACT The present invention relates to a GaN-based universal power converter (100) for a solar-wind energy system for rural electrification. The converter (100) comprises a renewable energy input module (101), energy storage module (102), GaN-based switching module (103), input capacitor (104), output capacitor (105), step-up transformer (106), converter control module (107), and machine-learning predictive analytics module (108). The switching module (103) selectively operates the converter (100) in battery charging, boost, and inverter modes. Battery charging is performed when battery voltage (VBAT) is below 9 V, while boost operation at VBAT greater than or equal to 12 V provides a 24 V DC output. During inverter operation, Q1-Q4 are operated using SPWM and Q5 and Q8 remain ON to generate AC power, which is increased to 230 V through the transformer (106). The module (108) provides condition monitoring and predictive maintenance of the power conversion system. The figure associated with abstract is Fig. 1.
