The application for the patent was published on September 18, 2026, under issue no. 38/2026.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a mycelium-based bio-composite (MbC) fabricated using the manglicolous filamentous fungus Aspergillus flavus JKSC-7 and lignocellulosic agro-wastes comprising wheat bran, rice husk, and sugarcane bagasse. The agro-wastes are combined in a 1:1:1 (w/w) ratio and colonized by A. flavus JKSC-7 through controlled inoculation and incubation to form a cohesive three-dimensional bio-composite. The fungal mycelial network and extracellular matrix provide natural binding, resulting in a lightweight, porous, hydrophobic, and semi-rigid material. The MbC exhibits enhanced biosorption of pyrene from aqueous media, achieving 97.01% removal after 720 minutes.
