MUMBAI, India, Oct. 5 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611098129 A) filed by Dr Aamir Hussain Hela; and Dr Mohammad Abrar Khan on August 13, 2026, for Functionally Graded Ventricular Catheter For Cerebrospinal Fluid Drainage.
Inventors include Dr Aamir Hussain Hela; and Dr Mohammad Abrar Khan.
The application for the patent was published on October 02, 2026, under issue no. 40/2026.
Abstract: A ventricular catheter (100; 300; 500) for cerebrospinal fluid drainage includes a catheter body (204) formed from a biocompatible elastomer and having a distal end and a proximal end, a compliant distal tip (102; 302; 502) at the distal end configured for placement within a ventricle (114), a proximal shaft (106; 306; 506) extending from the proximal end, a lumen (312; 510) extending through the catheter body (204) from the distal end to the proximal end, a plurality of inflow holes (308) disposed near the compliant distal tip (102; 302; 502) in fluid communication with the lumen (312; 510), and a stiffness gradient (200; 600) along a length of the catheter body (204), wherein the stiffness increases monotonically from the compliant distal tip (102; 302; 502) to the proximal shaft (106; 306; 506).
