Inventors include Dr. Rajesh Kumar; Dr. Anjana Gupta; Dr. Prabhat Ranjan; Rakhi; and Dr. Manisha Verma.

The application for the patent was published on October 30, 2026, under issue no. 44/2026.

Abstract: Abstract Disclosed is an apparatus for application of successive functionally graded coating regions to an internal surface of a cylinder liner. A liner-support assembly supports the cylinder liner, and a high-velocity oxygen-fuel spray head is supported by a carrier for relative coating traversal. Multiple powder supplies communicate with respective powder-metering members. An indexing member comprises successive coating-state portions provided with first profiles establishing respective powder-metering dispositions and second profiles establishing corresponding radial positions of the spray head. An indexing actuator is positioned adjacent a terminal region of the coating traversal, and a retaining arrangement retains the indexing member during deposition. Upon completion of a coating traversal, the indexing member is moved to a succeeding coating-state portion through engagement with the indexing actuator, whereby a succeeding powder-delivery condition and corresponding radial spray-head position are established before commencement of a succeeding coating traversal.
