MUMBAI, India, Aug. 24 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641094293 A) filed by Srm Dental College Ramapuram on August 04, 2026, for Functionally Graded Carbon Fiber Reinforced-Polyetheretherketone (cfr-Peek) Hybrid Mini- Implant.

Inventors include Dr. C R Aashik; and Dr. S Dilip.

The application for the patent was published on August 21, 2026, under issue no. 34/2026.

Abstract: ABSTRACT OF THE INVENTION Conventional titanium temporary anchorage devices (TADS) may produce cortical stress concentration, fatigue-related instability, pen-implant inflammation, radiographic artifacts, and difficult post-treatment removal. This study aimed to design and manufacture a 2 12 mm functionally graded carbon fiber reinforced polyether ether ketone (CFR-PEEK) dominant hybrid infrazygomatic crest (IZC) mini-implant with selective titanium reinforcement and region- specific surface engineering. A three-dimensional implant model incorporating a CFR-PEEK body, titanium microcore, self-drilling apical insert, hybrid buttress threads, and nano-bioactive coatings was developed and biomechanically evaluated using ANSYS. The implant demonstrated improved stress distribution, fatigue resistance, controlled osseointegration, enhanced soft tissue compatibility, and reduced CBCT artifacts compared to conventional titanium TADs, suggesting potential as a next-generation orthodontic skeletal anchorage system.
