Abstract: The present invention relates to atomically precise coinage-metal nanoclusters stabilized by bulky (imino)phosphide ligands and a process for their preparation and materials applications. The invention provides efficient synthetic routes for tetranuclear silver(I) and pentanuclear copper(I) nanoclusters comprising (imino)phosphide- supported Ag4 and Cu5Br2 cores. Additionally, the the invention also claims the easy synthetic methods for various di-nuclear Cu(I) complexes and the mixed Cs(I)/Cu(I) chian complexes. The nanoclusters are prepared by reacting a cesium-(imino)phosphide complexes with a suitable coinage-metal precursor under inert conditions in an organic solvent, followed by isolation in crystalline form. The disclosed nanoclusters exhibit structural stability, redox activity, and photoluminescent properties. The silver nanocluster demonstrates pseudocapacitive electrochemical charge-storage behavior, while the copper nanocluster exhibits thermally activated delayed fluorescence (TADF) and pseudocapacitive charge storage behavior as well. The invention provides first examples of the main group-stabilized multifunctional nanocluster materials suitable for electrochemical energy-storage, optoelectronic, and light-emitting device applications.
