Abstract: A fuel tank system for a vehicle (100) comprising a fuel tank (114), a fuel filler unit (210) disposed on a top wall (110) of the fuel tank (114), the fuel filler unit (210) having a peripheral wall (210p) with a plurality of holding provisions (502a, 502b, 502c, 502d) disposed at plurality of different axial lengths of the fuel filler unit (210), and a flame retarding device (202) coupled to a lower side of the fuel filler unit (210), the flame retarding device (202) comprising a neck portion (404) with at least one cut-out portion (504a, 504b), wherein the flame retarding device (202) adapted to couple to the fuel filler unit (210) at one of the plurality of different axial lengths of the fuel filler unit (210) by aligning and positioning the at least one cut-out portion (504a, 504b) with the at least one holding provision of the plurality of holding provisions.
