Abstract: The present invention relates to a diamond-like carbon (DLC) coating designed for high tensile steels, particularly high-strength low-alloy carbon steel, with applications in aerospace industries. The DLC coating offers exceptional adhesion and an ultra-low coefficient of friction, making it ideal for components such as landing gear struts. It is applied over a suitable interlayer, which may include materials like Cr, CrN, TiB2, or ZrB2. The coating has a thickness of 4000 nm for the DLC layer and 200 nm for the interlayer. The DLC coating improves wear resistance and durability as well as enhances thermal conductivity, managing heat dissipation effectively in high-pressure environments, thereby extending the lifespan of critical aerospace components.
