Abstract: A system for frequency stabilization in an AC microgrid (1) includes a plurality of distributed generation sources including at least one renewable energy source, at least one energy storage device, and at least one electric vehicle component configured to operate in a charging mode or a discharging mode. The distributed generation sources, energy storage device, and electric vehicle component are arranged to supply power to the AC microgrid (1). A fractional order type-2 fuzzy controller (2) receives a frequency deviation signal from the AC microgrid (1) and generates a control output to regulate the distributed generation sources. The fractional order type- 2 fuzzy controller (2) includes a type-2 fuzzy logic controller having a three-dimensional membership structure, a fractional order derivative component configured to process an area control error signal, and a proportional-integral-derivative output stage having a fractional order derivative path.
