MUMBAI, India, June 30 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202631070989 A) filed by Kalinga Institute Of Industrial Technology Kiit Deemed To Be University on June 08, 2026, for Fractalkine (cx3cl1) Biomarker For Early Detection Of Diabetes Mellitus.

Inventors include Swalsingh, Gourabamani; Pani, Punyadhara; and Bal, Naresh Chandra.

The application for the patent was published on June 26, 2026, under issue no. 26/2026.

Abstract: An in vitro method for determining a prediabetic condition or risk of diabetes onset in a subject includes obtaining a biological sample from the subject, wherein the biological sample includes peripheral blood. The method includes measuring a level of fractalkine (CX3CL1) in the biological sample using a CX3CL1 detection component (104). The method further includes determining the prediabetic condition or risk of diabetes onset based on the measured level of CX3CL1, wherein an elevated CX3CL1 level is indicative of skeletal muscle metabolic remodeling associated with early metabolic dysfunction prior to onset of hyperglycemia. The measured CX3CL1 level may be compared to a reference level using a reference level comparison component (106) to assess diabetes risk. (FIG. 1)
