Abstract: The present invention relates to a ballistic-resistant laminate that integrates Kevlar—FRP skins with a fractal-patterned auxetic elastomer core containing nanoscale fillers. The core's self-similar segmentation and negative-Poisson-ratio units contract during impact, which may redirect cracks and spread stress more uniformly. Energy absorption increases, and deflection drops relative to Kevlar-only systems. These shifts are believed to arise from the coupled effects of auxetic densification and nanofiller-mediated load transfer. The design stays lightweight and retains flexibility, which is often difficult when improving ballistic performance. Fabrication through laser-patterning or additive manufacturing can maintain the geometric fidelity needed for consistent auxetic behavior and uniform filler dispersion. The composite may suit body armor plates, flexible shields, helmets, and vehicle spall liners where multi-hit durability and deformation control are critical.
