Abstract: The present invention relates to an FPGA-based runtime reconfigurable approximate arithmetic system (100) comprising a multi-mode Ripple Carry Adder configured to operate in exact and approximate arithmetic computation modes. The system (100) comprises an FPGA-based arithmetic computation module, an artificial intelligence-based controller, a communication interface, and an error evaluation module. The artificial intelligence-based controller dynamically selects arithmetic operating modes using mode control signals transmitted through a UART communication interface. The arithmetic computation module performs arithmetic operations using carry-cut approximation, OR-based approximation, speculative carry approximation, or exact carry propagation. The error evaluation module determines arithmetic deviation between approximate outputs and corresponding exact outputs and provides feedback to the artificial intelligence-based controller for runtime adaptive mode selection. The system (100) enables runtime reconfiguration of arithmetic computation modes using feedback-driven adaptive control within an integrated hardware-software architecture.
