MUMBAI, India, June 24 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202617062390 A) filed by Qualcomm Incorporated on May 16, 2026, for Forward Error Correction With Adaptive Interleaving And Flexible Packet Allocation.

Inventors include Kalamkar, Sanket Sanjay; Lin, Yih-Hao; Agarwal, Ravi; Tinnakornsrisuphap, Peerapol; Mondet, Mickael; Zhou, Zhichao; Lee, Hyun Yong; and Meylan, Arnaud.

The application for the patent was published on June 12, 2026, under issue no. 24/2026.

Abstract: Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide techniques for adaptive forward error correction (FEC) and dynamic packet allocation to transport blocks (TBs). A method for wireless communication by a transmitting device, such as a user equipment (UE) for uplink or sidelink and a base station (BS) for downlink, includes generating a plurality of data packets. The transmitting device determines an interleaving length for FEC. The determination is based on a transport block size (TBS). The transmitting device interleaves the plurality of data packets based on the interleaving length. Each set of data packets, of the plurality of data packets, occurring at the interleaving length corresponds to a repair packet. The transmitting device transmits the plurality of data packets.
