Abstract: ABSTRACT [0024] The Floating tablets for Furosemide (F1-F8) were successfully prepared using HPMC K100, Sodium alginate, Xanthan gum, Guar gum matrix forming polymers and Sodium bi carbonate, Citric acid as gas generating agent by direct compression techniques. The optimized formulation F8 has shown better controlled drug release and has good floating properties. The improved performance of formulation F8 is due to the presence of the natural polymer guar gum, which has excellent swelling and gel-forming properties. It helps in maintaining tablet integrity, enhancing floating ability, and providing controlled drug release. Being natural, biodegradable, and biocompatible, guar gum is a suitable polymer for floating drug delivery systems.
