Abstract: ABSTRACT The present invention relates to the formulation and evaluation of a herbal antibacterial cream comprising extracts of Adhatoda vasica and Carica papaya leaves for the treatment of skin infections and wound healing applications. The herbal extracts are incorporated into a semisolid cream base containing pharmaceutically acceptable excipients such as white soft paraffin, beeswax, borax, methyl paraben, menthol, orange oil, distilled water, and dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO). The formulated cream exhibits significant antibacterial activity against Gram-positive bacteria including Staphylococcus aureus, Bacillus subtilis, and Bacillus cereus, as well as Gram- negative bacteria including Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and Serratia marcescens. The cream demonstrates desirable physicochemical properties such as suitable pH, homogeneity, spreadability, washability, viscosity, and storage stability. The synergistic antimicrobial effect of the herbal extracts is attributed to the presence of bioactive constituents including alkaloids, flavonoids, tannins, and phenolic compounds. The invention provides a safe, natural, stable, and effective topical antibacterial formulation useful as an alternative to conventional antiseptic and antimicrobial creams.
