MUMBAI, India, Aug. 31 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641100363 A) filed by Vellore Institute Of Technology, Chennai on August 19, 2026, for Footwear Apparatus For Pressure-Based Arch Support Adjustment.

Inventors include Suraj B Hebbal; Divya S; and Sugumaran V.

The application for the patent was published on August 28, 2026, under issue no. 35/2026.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a footwear apparatus (100). The footwear apparatus (100) may include a sensor assembly (102) to detect plantar pressure data associated with a foot of a user, an adjustment assembly (104) to adjust an arch support, and a controller (202). The controller (202) may receive the plantar pressure data, determine a plantar pressure distribution, identify a first set of plantar regions associated with pressure magnitudes exceeding a pressure threshold and a second set of plantar regions associated with pressure magnitudes below the pressure threshold, determine an arch adjustment parameter for redistributing plantar load from the first set of plantar regions toward the second set of plantar regions, and actuate the adjustment assembly (104) to dynamically modify the arch support for redistributing plantar pressure across the foot.
