Abstract: The present invention relates to a foldable manual tile cutting apparatus and a method of configuring the apparatus between an open operating configuration and a folded compact configuration. The apparatus comprises a three-piece centre support base having movable support members, a sectional guide rod assembly having releasably connectable guide rod sections, locking knobs, and a movable cutting carriage carrying a scoring element. In the open operating configuration, the support members are secured relative to one another and the guide rod sections are aligned and connected to provide an elongated guide path for scoring a tile. For transportation and storage, the support members are folded relative to one another and the guide rod sections are detached, thereby reducing the overall occupied length and volume of the apparatus. The apparatus is suitable for cutting ceramic, porcelain, vitrified, and large-format tiles.
