Abstract: A flywheel 1000 comprising a plurality of discs 1002 arranged in a stack 1004, including at least first and second end discs at either end of the stack 1004, in which each disc 1002 includes a central region 1034 and a peripheral region 1032 disposed around the central region 1034, the peripheral region 1032 being adjacent to a peripheral edge of the disc 1002, first and second plate members 1006 disposed at opposing ends of the stack 1004, and bonding means 1030 which bonds only part of each disc 1002 to each neighbouring disc 1002 in the stack 1004, including bonding together adjacent peripheral regions 1032 of neighbouring discs 1002, and which bonds each of the first and second plate members 1006 respectively to the first and second end discs of the stack 1002.
