Abstract: Abstract Disclosed is a floodgate debris release system for obstruction detection and controlled debris removal at a water-control opening. The system comprises a gate frame defining a water passage, a gate member movably supported by the gate frame, an actuator unit coupled to the gate member through a drive linkage, and a debris rake disposed upstream of the gate member. The debris rake is movable between a screening position and a discharge position adjacent to a debris receiving path. A sensing set comprises a gate-position sensor, an actuator-load sensor, water-condition sensors, and an object-detection sensor directed toward a closure region of the gate member. A controller is operably connected to the actuator unit, the debris rake, and the sensing set. The controller halts the gate member, drives the debris rake toward the discharge position, and resumes gate movement after the closure region is indicated as cleared.
