Abstract: FLOCCULANT COPOLYMER FOR COAL WASHERY WATER TREATMENT, PROCESS OF PREPARATION AND APPLICATION(S) THEREOF The present disclosure provides a novel flocculant copolymer and methods of preparation thereof. The flocculant copolymer is designed for efficient treatment of coal washery water and comprises monomers N-[3-(Dimethylamino) propyl] methacrylamide (DMAPMA), [2-(Methacryloyloxy) ethyl] trimethylammonium chloride (METAC) and Acrylamide (AAm). The copolymer exhibits high flocculation efficiency, enhancing the sedimentation of suspended coal fines and reducing turbidity, making it ideal for recycling washery water, reducing freshwater consumption and improving the longevity of coal tailing ponds. The invention further provides a method for treating coal washery effluents using the flocculant copolymer, either alone or in combination with coagulants, to improve process efficiency and sustainability.
