The application for the patent was published on September 18, 2026, under issue no. 38/2026.

Abstract: Abstract The proposed work utilised the concept of developing an octopus inspired soft robotic arm and its ability to detect and grasp the object according to its shape by using autonomous object detection technology. For the same, it is the technology that relies on computer vision, embedded systems and soft robotics. The 3D print segmented tentacle design of the robotic arm is inspired by tendon actuated servo motors. An ESP32-CAM module captures the live image, and computer vision algorithms run on a host computer to determine the shapes of objects in the image (e.g., circles and squares). The system automatically selects the appropriate grip based on the type it can detect. The system shows that computer vision and soft robotics can be combined to attain intelligent object manipulation. Inspired by the flexibility and adaptiveness of an octopus arm, the proposed work lays the groundwork for future research on autonomous robots and AI-assisted manipulation. In addition, modules such as the ESP32 DevKit V1, ESP32-CAM module, MG995R servo motors, OpenCV image processing library, and the Arduino IDE compiler are used. It is a real-time robotic model with high accuracy in shape classification and motor control.
