MUMBAI, India, Sept. 14 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202621090343 A) filed by Shrijeet Pagrut; Vaibhav Sanjay Udapure; and Ram S. Dhekekar on July 24, 2026, for Fire-Resistant Thermally Insulated 4s2p Lithium-Ion Battery Pack With Impact-Protected Enclosure For Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Applications.
Inventors include Vaibhav Sanjay Udapure; Shrijeet Pagrut; and Ram S. Dhekekar.
The application for the patent was published on September 11, 2026, under issue no. 37/2026.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a fire-resistant, thermally insulated lithium-ion battery pack for unmanned aerial vehicle applications, comprising cells arranged in a 4S2P configuration, a multilayer thermal protective barrier disposed between adjacent cells, a Battery Management System for voltage, current, and temperature monitoring, and a rigid protective enclosure with an impact-absorbing landing support structure. The multilayer barrier reduces heat propagation between cells during thermal runaway, while the enclosure and landing support isolate the cells from mechanical shock during landing. The invention is evaluated through comparative flight, thermal, and structural testing against a conventional unprotected battery pack, demonstrating improved safety while maintaining competitive energy density.
