MUMBAI, India, Sept. 22 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611088555 A) filed by K. R. Mangalam University on July 21, 2026, for Fiber-Reinforced Brick From Shredded Textile Waste And Apparatus For Producing The Same.
Inventors include Dr. Monika Yadav; Nitish Kumar Minz; and Prof. Dr. Hima Gupta.
The application for the patent was published on September 18, 2026, under issue no. 38/2026.
Abstract: A cloth brick (200) comprises, by weight, 50-70% of shredded textile fibres (202) of 5-20 mm entangled into a continuous three-dimensional network, 20-40% of a set binder matrix (204) coating the fibres (202) and bonding them at their crossings, and 0-5% of additives. The set binder matrix (204) is sufficient to bond the crossings but insufficient to fill the voids between the fibres (202), so that an interconnected pore structure (206) is retained and micro-cracks (208) are bridged by the fibres (202). The brick (200) is compacted at 3-10 MPa and is unfired. A method (301-307) and a plant (100) having a sizing screen (28), a moisture sensor (48), a pressure sensor (94) and a controller (130) are also disclosed.
