MUMBAI, India, Aug. 24 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641088371 A) filed by Manipal Academy Of Higher Education on July 20, 2026, for Fiber-Optic Biosensing System And Method For Detecting One Or More Target Analytes In A Sample.

Inventors include Tadi Sai Ratnakar; Pooja Nag; and Kapil Sadani.

The application for the patent was published on August 21, 2026, under issue no. 34/2026.

Abstract: Embodiments of the present disclosure relate to a fiber-optic biosensing system (100) and method (200) for detecting one or more target analytes in a sample. The system (100) includes a light source (102), an optical coupling assembly (104), a U-shaped sensing region (106), a plasmonic sensing layer (108), a molecular recognition layer (110), a sample receiving region (112), an optical detection unit (114) and a processing unit (116). The plasmonic sensing layer (108) is disposed on a portion of the sensing region (106). The molecular recognition layer (110) is immobilized on the plasmonic sensing layer (108). The sample receiving region (112) is configured to expose the sensing region (106) to a test sample. The optical detection unit (114) is configured to receive light transmitted through the optical fiber (120) and generate spectral response data. The processing unit (116) is configured to determine a concentration of the target analyte.
