MUMBAI, India, Aug. 12 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641041582 A) filed by Indian Institute Of Technology Madras Iit Madras on April 01, 2026, for Ferrite Assisted Synchronous Reluctance Motor With Enhanced Torque.
Inventors include Hatua, Kamalesh; P, Veena; and Roy, Devjyoti.
The application for the patent was published on August 07, 2026, under issue no. 32/2026.
Abstract: Disclosed is a multipole permanent magnet assisted synchronous reluctance motor (100). The multipole permanent magnet assisted synchronous reluctance motor (100) comprises a stator (102) having a first set of windings (202) and a second set of windings (204) with different number of poles and a rotor (104) having plurality of flux barriers (110) with embedded plurality of permanent magnets (112) for supporting multipole configuration. The first set of windings (202) and a second set of windings (204) are independently excited through a first inverter unit (206) and a second inverter unit (208) respectively, and are configured to operate in a torque-sharing manner across different speed regions. At low speeds, both the first set of windings (202) and the second set of windings (204) contribute to production of combined torque. At higher speeds, the combined torque is predominantly provided by the second set of winding, thereby extending constant power speed range. (Representative Figure: Fig. 1)
