MUMBAI, India, Oct. 12 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641119836 A) filed by Ifet College Of Engineering on October 07, 2026, for Fault-Tolerant System For Continuous Physiological Monitoring.

Inventors include S. Shalini; I. Syed Abdul Kalam; and V. Yuvaraj.

The application for the patent was published on October 09, 2026, under issue no. 41/2026.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a fault-tolerant physiological monitoring system for maintaining continuity of pulse monitoring upon failure of an active processing controller. The system comprises a primary processing controller (102), a secondary processing controller (104), a supervisory controller (106), a photoplethysmographic pulse sensor (108), a display unit (110), and an Internet-of-Things communication interface (112). The supervisory controller (106) monitors periodic heartbeat communication from the active processing controller and detects a failure condition upon absence of an expected heartbeat within a predefined period. Upon detection of failure of the primary processing controller (102), physiological-signal acquisition, processing, and display functions are transferred to the secondary processing controller (104). Access to the shared pulse sensor (108) and display unit (110) is controlled according to the active processing-controller assignment to restrict conflicting peripheral access during controller transition. The system thereby reduces interruption of pulse monitoring during processing- controller failure and enables local and remote physiological monitoring.
