Abstract: ABSTRACT Disclosed herein is a fault-tolerant network topology management system (100) for dynamic minimum spanning tree-based backup edge reservation that comprises a Network Interface Unit (102), Network Monitoring Unit (104), Communication Unit (106), Memory Unit (108), Processing Unit (110), and Network Output Unit (130). The Processing Unit (110) includes a Network Graph Generation Module (112), Minimum Spanning Tree Computation Module (114), Bridge Detection Module (116), Partition Identification Module (118), Backup Edge Selection Module (120), Backup Reservation Module (122), Failure Detection Module (124), Failover Control Module (126), and Dynamic Update Module (128). The system constructs a weighted network graph, generates a minimum spanning tree, identifies bridge edges, determines disconnected network portions, and pre-reserves lowest-cost non-tree backup edges. Upon detecting bridge-edge failure, the system retrieves the corresponding backup mapping and activates the reserved backup edge without recomputing the minimum spanning tree, thereby enabling rapid network recovery and improved fault tolerance.
