Abstract: A fault-tolerant multi-sensor monitoring system and method thereof, comprises a plurality of sensor interface circuits 101 to receive signals from multiple heterogeneous sensors, a sensor health monitoring unit 102 to check each sensor for proper operation and generate a confidence value, a redundancy-aware sensor fusion engine 103 to combine sensor signals by assigning higher importance to sensors with higher confidence values and lower importance to sensors with lower confidence values, a missing-data compensation unit to estimate data when sensors are degraded or unavailable, an inference unit 104 to process the fused data and generate a hazard score indicating the severity of an event and a decision confidence score indicative of reliability of the hazard score, an alert generation unit to generate different levels of alerts based on both the hazard score and the decision confidence score, and a method for fault-tolerant multi-sensor monitoring.
