The application for the patent was published on September 25, 2026, under issue no. 39/2026.

Abstract: In an embodiment, the present disclosure discloses a multi-layer fault detection arrangement (200a) for Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) (100a). The arrangement comprise a first layer (112) having a Short Circuit (SC) protection circuit (120) configured to detect SC event in the VFD within a first predetermined time (T1) and a second layer (114) having a current sensor configured to detect the SC event in the VFD within a second predetermined time (T2), if the first layer (112) fails to detect the SC event within the time (T1), wherein the (T2) is greater than the (T1). Finally, the VFDs comprise a third layer (116) having a microcontroller configured to detect the SC event in the VFD within a third predetermined time greater (T3), if the second layer (114) fails to detect the SC event within the time (T2). The time (T3) is greater than the time (T2). [Figure 2a]
