MUMBAI, India, Aug. 24 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641086972 A) filed by Manipal Academy Of Higher Education on July 16, 2026, for Fall-Resistant Mobility Support Device And Method.

Inventors include Partho Pratim Seal; and Swapnil Seal.

The application for the patent was published on August 21, 2026, under issue no. 34/2026.

Abstract: Embodiments of the present disclosure relate to fall-resistant mobility support device (100) and method (200). The device (100) includes an elongated support frame (102), a handle assembly (104), a primary ground-contact member, at least one deployable stabilizing assembly (106), an actuator assembly, a transmission member (108) and a biasing mechanism. The handle assembly (104) is positioned adjacent to the upper user-engagement portion and configured to be gripped by a user during ambulation. The primary ground-contact member is coupled to the lower ground-engaging portion for supporting the mobility support device (100) during movement. The deployable stabilizing assembly (106) includes auxiliary support members configured to selectively transition between a retracted configuration and a deployed configuration. The actuator assembly is operatively associated with the handle assembly (104). The biasing mechanism is configured to automatically urge the deployable stabilizing assembly (106) toward the deployed configuration in response to release of the actuator assembly.
