MUMBAI, India, Sept. 14 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641106093 A) filed by Sri Eshwar College Of Engineering on September 03, 2026, for Fabrication Of Industrial Safety Helmet Using Woven Jute Fiber Reinforced Epoxy Composite Material.

Inventors include Dr Ramakrishnan T; and Goforth Walker P.

The application for the patent was published on September 11, 2026, under issue no. 37/2026.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a sustainable industrial safety helmet fabricated using a natural fiber reinforced polymer composite material. The helmet comprises woven jute fiber as a reinforcement and epoxy resin as a matrix material, configured in multiple layers to form a lightweight and impact-resistant protective shell. The composite shell is manufactured using a hand lay-up technique in which prepared jute fiber layers are arranged over a helmet-shaped mould and impregnated with an epoxy resin and hardener system, followed by curing, demoulding and finishing. The curved shell configuration facilitates distribution of externally applied impact loads over a larger surface area, while the layered woven-fiber structure provides stiffness, structural integrity and energy absorption. The invention provides a low-cost and environmentally sustainable alternative to conventional petroleum-based industrial helmets while maintaining lightweight construction and adequate protective characteristics for industrial and construction applications.
