MUMBAI, India, Sept. 28 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641111189 A) filed by Vellore Institute Of Technology, Chennai on September 16, 2026, for Fabric Impact-Abrasion Testing System And Method Thereof.

Inventors include N. Gayathri; T. Palani Rajan; and R. Padmanabhan.

The application for the patent was published on September 25, 2026, under issue no. 39/2026.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a fabric impact-abrasion testing system (100). The fabric impact-abrasion testing system (100) may include a specimen support assembly (102) to support a fabric specimen (101), an abrasion assembly (104), an actuation assembly (106), a sensor assembly (108), and a controller (202). The sensor assembly (108) may detect interaction data associated with interaction between the fabric specimen (101) and the abrasion assembly (104). The controller (202) may receive the interaction data, determine a crash interaction status based on the interaction data, generate a crash simulation profile based on the crash interaction status, and actuate the actuation assembly (106) based on the crash simulation profile to cause controlled interaction between the fabric specimen (101) and the abrasion assembly (104). The controller (202) may deactivate the actuation assembly (106) in response to detection of a puncture associated with the fabric specimen (101).
