MUMBAI, India, Sept. 7 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611083896 A) filed by Chhatrapati Shahu Ji Maharaj University on July 08, 2026, for Eye Drop Compliance Monitoring Cap.
Inventors include Ms Reshu Yadav; Mr. Dayashankar Rastogi; Mr. Vishwdeep Mishra; and Mr. Shivam Kumar.
The application for the patent was published on September 04, 2026, under issue no. 36/2026.
Abstract: Disclosed is an eye drop compliance monitoring cap comprising a reusable cap housing removably attachable to a squeezable ophthalmic bottle, a bottle-contact region for receiving wall deformation during squeezing, a force detection element generating a squeeze signal, an orientation detection element generating an orientation signal, a low-power processing unit, non-volatile memory, and a user feedback indicator. The low-power processing unit receives and compares the squeeze signal with a predefined force threshold, receives and compares the orientation signal with a predefined angular threshold corresponding to downward ophthalmic instillation orientation, and determines whether both conditions occur within a predefined temporal correlation window. Recording is rejected when any condition is not satisfied. When all conditions are satisfied, the processing unit validates the instillation event, generates a timestamp, stores a timestamped validated instillation record, and activates the user feedback indicator.
