Abstract: A method for using extended intra prediction (EIP) or multiple source sample-based prediction to generate cross-component prediction of chroma samples with inter- prediction is provided. A video coder receives data to be encoded or decoded as a current block of pixels of a current picture of a video. The video coder receives a model for predicting a set of one or more target samples based on a set of one or more neighboring source samples. The video coder reconstructs first component samples of the current block using non-intra prediction based on samples from a reference block. The video coder applies the model to the reconstructed samples of the current block to generate a predictor comprising predictions of second component samples of the current block. The predictions of the second component samples are clipped to be within a range of values.
