MUMBAI, India, Nov. 2 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611109193 A) filed by Dr. Anshuman Jamdade; Dr. Vaishali Jamdade; and Mahatma Gandhi University Of Medical Sciences & Technology on September 11, 2026, for Extraoral Periapical Radiographic System And Standardized Radiographic Method.
Inventors include Dr. Anshuman Jamdade; and Dr. Vaishali Jamdade.
The application for the patent was published on October 30, 2026, under issue no. 44/2026.
Abstract: The present invention relates to an extraoral periapical radiographic system (100) and a standardized extraoral periapical radiographic method (200) for obtaining standardized and reproducible extraoral periapical radiographs of individual teeth using a dental X-ray unit. The system (100) comprises a beam-guiding member (102) configured to receive an open end of an X-ray cone (102a), an image receptor holder (104) configured to removably hold an image receptor (105), vertically adjustable support members (101, 103), and a horizontal connecting rod (107) configured to maintain a predetermined spatial relationship between the X-ray cone (102a) and the image receptor (105). The method (200) comprises positioning the image receptor (105) externally using extraoral anatomical reference landmarks, obtaining standardized projection geometry by adjusting the X-ray cone (102a) or patient head orientation, directing the central X-ray beam (102c) substantially perpendicular to a selected tooth axis, and capturing a reproducible radiographic image with reduced positioning variation.
