Abstract: Title: Extraction of Nanocellulose from Areca Husk and Pharmaceutical products thereof The present invention relates to the extraction and utilization of nanocellulose derived from areca husk for pharmaceutical applications. Areca husk, an abundant agricultural waste, is pre-treated to remove lignin and hemicellulose, leaving behind purified cellulose. This cellulose is then converted into nanocellulose using methods such as acid hydrolysis, TEMPO oxidation, and ionic liquid treatments, followed by ultra-sonication and homogenization. The resulting nanocellulose exhibits enhanced mechanical strength, biocompatibility, and high surface area, making it suitable for various pharmaceutical applications, including drug delivery systems, wound healing, and tissue engineering. The prepared nanocellulose is characterized through techniques like X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) to assess its crystallinity, morphology, and thermal stability. This approach offers a sustainable, cost-effective alternative to synthetic polymers, addressing environmental concerns and contributing to the development of safer and more efficient pharmaceutical formulations.1
