Abstract: The invention presents a method for producing sustainable concrete using coffee biochar as a partial replacement for fine aggregate. Spent coffee grounds are collected from waste sources and subjected to cleaning and drying processes to remove impurities and moisture content. The dried coffee grounds are then thermally processed under controlled conditions to produce coffee biochar with improved physical and chemical characteristics.The processed coffee biochar is incorporated into the concrete mix by replacing a fixed proportion of fine aggregate by weight. The materials, including cement, coarse aggregate, fine aggregate, and coffee biochar, are measured using weight batching to ensure accuracy and consistency. The constituents are mixed uniformly to obtain a homogeneous and workable concrete mixture suitable for casting. Con Crete specimens are prepared using standard moulds and compacted properly to eliminate air voids and achieve uniform density. The specimens are demoulded after initial setting and cured under controlled conditions for specified durations to facilitate proper hydration and strength development.The mechanical performance of the developed concrete is evaluated using compressive strength testing. The results are compared with conventional concrete to assess the influence of coffee biochar on strength characteristics. The incorporation of coffee biochar contributes to improved particle packing and may enhance the bonding between cement paste and aggregates.The porous nature of biochar enables internal curing by retaining and gradually releasing moisture, thereby supporting hydration and potentially improving the microstructure of concrete. The method also examines the effect of biochar on workability and overall behavior of concrete.The invention promotes the effective utilization of waste coffee materials, reducing environmental pollution and landfill disposal. It also decreases dependency on natural sand, addressing resource depletion issues in the construction industry.The proposed method offers a sustainable, eco-friendly, and potentially cost-effective solution for concrete production. It can be integrated into existing construction practices with minimal modification and can be adapted for large-scale applications in the field.
