The application for the patent was published on July 03, 2026, under issue no. 27/2026.

Abstract: ABSTRACT Concrete is widely used in construction due to its high compressive strength; however, it possesses low tensile strength and is highly susceptible to cracking. To address these limitations, this study investigates the performance of Hybrid Fiber Reinforced Concrete (HFRC) incorporating recycled steel fibers and polypropylene fibers. M30 grade concrete mixes were prepared with varying hybrid fiber volume fi'actions to evaluate their influence on fresh and hardened properties. Workability of the mixes was assessed using slump tests, while mechanical properties were determined through compressive strength, split tensile strength and flexural strength tests in accordance with relevant Indian Standards.. In addition, durability characteristics such as water absorption and crack resistance were examined .The results indicate that the inclusion of recycled steel fibers significantly enhances load-carrying capacity, toughness, and post-cracking behavior of concrete. Polypropylene fibers, on the other hand, effectively control plastic shrinkage and improve resistance to micro-cracking. The combined use of these fibers produces a synergistic effect, resulting in improved strength, ductility, and durability compared to conventional concrete. The optimum fiber content was found to provide a balance between workability and performance. Furthermore, the utilization of recycled steel fibers contributes to sustainable construction by promoting waste material reuse. Overall, HFRC deinonstrates superior structural performance and offers a viable, eco-friendly alternative for modem construction applications
