MUMBAI, India, Sept. 22 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202617085994 A) filed by Yamaha Hatsudoki Kabushiki Kaisha on July 14, 2026, for Exhaust Gas Treatment System For Alcohol Engine, And Vehicle.

Inventor includes Shibasaki, Shoji.

The application for the patent was published on September 18, 2026, under issue no. 38/2026.

Abstract: The purpose of the present invention is to provide an exhaust gas treatment system that is suitable for an alcohol engine configured so as to use a high-concentration alcohol-containing fuel that contains alcohol at an alcohol concentration of greater than 20% by volume. In the present invention, a catalyst is provided with a carrier that has a passage wall, and a plurality of contours or holes are formed in the passage wall so as to come in contact with exhaust gas molecules in a combustion exhaust gas of the high-concentration alcohol-containing fuel that is produced through combustion of the high-concentration alcohol-containing fuel by an alcohol engine. Accordingly, during a cold start, the decrease in chemical reaction of exhaust gas molecules resulting from the decrease in the average kinetic energy of the exhaust gas molecules in the combustion exhaust gas of the high-concentration alcohol-containing fuel relative to exhaust gas produced by combustion of gasoline fuels or low- concentration alcohol-containing fuels is compensated for, and at high loads, the exhaust gas molecules in the combustion exhaust gas of the high-concentration alcohol-containing fuel are dispersed so that the density of chemical reactions thereof does not become locally concentrated.
