The application for the patent was published on August 28, 2026, under issue no. 35/2026.

Abstract: Electric vehicles (EVs) are a sustainable alternative type of transportation as compared to the traditional ones, but the shortages concerning battery efficiency and security continue to be a serious concern as of 2022. Many of the reported cases on EV fire are mainly due to battery overheating, overcharging, short circuiting and thermal runaway. To increase the safety and reliability of EVs, it is suggested in this paper that a microcontroller-based battery monitoring and protection system should be proposed. The system proposed is a continuous monitoring system that measures critical battery parameters like voltage, current and temperature to identify abnormal operating conditions. It has a 3S lithium-ion battery pack, voltage, current, and temperature sensors to provide safe discharging and charging. The system comes in such a way that the battery input/output is automatically disconnected every time any parameter passes certain safety limits that have been set so as to avoid fire hazard. Besides the protection of battery, the system also has a zone based speed control which operates on low power RF communication. The suggested system enhances the safety of batteries, increases battery life, and reduces the risks of accidents due to the battery fault and negligence of drivers.
