Abstract: The present invention provides an essential oil-based anti-tick formulation for the control of ticks in bovines. The invention provides a synergistic anti-tick formulation comprising eugenol, thymol, and carvacrol in a ratio of 1:1:1 (w/w), dissolved in 70% ethanol. The formulation exhibits potent acaricidal activity against fully engorged adult female Rhipicephalus microplus ticks, producing 100% mortality at a minimum concentration of 50 mg/mL and retained substantially higher acaricidal activity at reduced concentrations of 25, 12.5, and 6.25 mg/mL. The formulation demonstrates an LCs0 of 9.54 mg/mL and an LC90 of 29.58 mg/mL, indicating high potency attributable to the synergistic interaction of the constituent essential oils and serves as a plant derived, biodegradable, and residue safe alternative to synthetic acaricides. The invention is suitable for the effective management of tick infestations in cattle and buffaloes while reducing the risk of acaricide resistance and chemical residues in animal derived products.
