Abstract: ERGONOMIC TRADITIONAL SILK HANDLOOM SYSTEM Embodiments provide an ergonomic foot pedal system for a traditional ground handloom used in silk saree weaving, the system comprising: a pair of elongated foot pedal holders adapted to be installed within the loom pit; a pair of foot pedal sheets mounted on the respective foot pedal holders, each foot pedal sheet providing a planar operating surface for the weaver’s feet; a plurality of mechanical fasteners connecting each foot pedal sheet to their corresponding foot pedal holder; and an adjustable belt mechanism associated with at least one foot pedal sheet for securing and positioning a weaver’s foot, wherein the foot pedal holders and foot pedal sheets are configured to replace the conventional hard-floor contact surface of the loom pit and to permit adjustable foot placement, thereby reducing musculoskeletal strain during prolonged weaving operations. Embodiments provide an ergonomic solution for improving work conditions while preserving the authenticity of traditional weaving methods. The affordability and ease of installation make it a viable solution for large-scale implementation across various weaving communities.
