Abstract: The utility patent titled "Ergonomic Everyday Chair" discloses a load-bearing seating system engineered for everyday use, employing a cross-laminated plywood structural frame with teak veneer surface finish as its primary construction material. The chair is designed to safely sustain static and dynamic human loads, with material behaviour under compression, bending, and fatigue as the primary engineering basis for component specification. The structural frame is manufactured from 18 mm plywood using layer lamination and press bending techniques to achieve curved surface profiles. Cushioning is provided by moulded low-to-medium density polyurethane foam (PU foam) formed to the seat profile, providing uniform density and thickness for consistent comfort. The surface finish employs teak veneer applied over engineered wood, minimising teak timber consumption while providing a premium hardwood appearance, reducing material cost and wastage versus solid teak construction. Nano-coatings applied to the veneer surface provide scratch resistance and moisture protection, extending product service life. Structural joint and hinge components utilise nano-reinforced polymer technology to exploit improved strength-to-weight characteristics. All manufacturing processes — including CNC cutting, drilling, slotting, sanding, and finishing — are selected based on material behaviour, and quality control measures are applied to plywood, veneer, and foam at each production stage. Product validation includes static load testing, dynamic and fatigue testing, joint strength testing, and environmental testing.
