Abstract: Industry 4.0 environments heavily rely on IoT devices for real-time monitoring of machines and IoT enables automation and predictive maintenance in these Environments. Despite this, these systems suffer from latency, hardware limitations, and emerging security threats. Traditional cryptographic algorithms such as RSA ensure strong confidentiality but impose significant performance overhead on resource constrained IoT nodes. To resolve this, this paper proposes a hybrid security framework that integrates SIT (secure IoT) block cipher with RSA-based key exchange using edge computing, deployed using azure IoT Hub, the architecture enables the symmetric key encryption on the IoT node and Low-Latency data processing on the edge layer. Experimental results demonstrate a 32-40% reduction in end-to-end latency and significant reduction in the node-level computation overhead compared to cloud-only encryption models. The proposed methodology is highly scalable and suitable for secure, real-time industrial automation systems.
