Abstract: Title: ENHANCED BIOGAS PRODUCTION The present invention relates to an improved method for enhancing biogas production by utilizing isolated methanogenic bacterial strains. The invention provides an isolated strain, identified as Serratia surfactantfaciens strain YD25, along with other closely related Serratia species, which demonstrate enhanced methane production in anaerobic conditions. These bacterial strains were identified through molecular characterization using 16S rRNA sequencing and BLASTn analysis, exhibiting 95% sequence identity with Serratia species. Biochemical assays confirmed their ability to ferment carbohydrates and produce methane, with metabolic properties such as positive indole and methyl red (MR) tests, casein hydrolysis, and nitrate reduction. The invention also includes an optimized biogas plant design incorporating a biocatalyst inlet for microbial integration, a mixing tank for uniform waste distribution, chopping blades for efficient breakdown of organic material, a gas-level indicator for real-time monitoring, and an effluent collector for bio-fertilizer recovery. The bacterial strains multiply rapidly, doubling every 20 minutes, ensuring a stable microbial population for sustained methane production. Their integration into biogas digesters accelerates anaerobic digestion, achieving methane production within one week compared to conventional biogas plants that take several weeks. This invention enhances biogas efficiency, reduces organic waste, and provides a scalable, eco-friendly solution for renewable energy production and sustainable waste management.
