MUMBAI, India, Sept. 22 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611091147 A) filed by Mohd Aaqib; Misba Gul; and Taran Jandyal on July 27, 2026, for Engineered Multi-Layer Geosynthetic Cushion Assembly For Progressive Load Transfer In Disconnected Piled Raft Foundations.

Inventors include Mohd Aaqib; Misba Gul; and Taran Jandyal.

The application for the patent was published on September 18, 2026, under issue no. 38/2026.

Abstract: The present invention relates to an engineered multi-layer geosynthetic cushion assembly (100) for progressive load transfer in disconnected piled raft foundation systems. The assembly is positioned between a raft foundation (182) and a plurality of disconnected piles (184) and comprises a load-distribution layer (102), at least one geosynthetic reinforcement layer including a first reinforcement layer (104) and a second reinforcement layer (106), a stiffness-modulating intermediate layer (108), a friction-regulating interface layer (110), and modular connection fasteners (112). The layered configuration progressively redistributes structural loads from the raft foundation to the disconnected piles and surrounding soil, thereby reducing localized stress concentration, minimizing total and differential settlement, improving pile– soil–raft interaction, and enhancing foundation stability. Optional drainage layers and structural health monitoring components may be incorporated to improve durability and long-term performance. The invention is applicable to buildings, bridges, transportation infrastructure, industrial facilities, and other structures constructed on weak or heterogeneous soils.
