Abstract: [Problem to be Solved] To provide an engine valve having excellent resistance to both wear and corrosion and a method for manufacturing the same, by which even when dissimilar metals are joined, galvanic corrosion can be reduced for an engine fueled by CNG, LPG, or alcohol. [Solution] In an engine valve 10 of the present invention, for a joining member obtained by joining a stem portion 14 made of martensitic heat resistant steel SUH11 that is a base material and a head portion 12 made of austenitic heat resistant steel SUH35 that is a base material, a nitrided layer is formed only on a surface of the base material of the stem portion 14 from a joining portion 13 between the stem portion 14 and the head portion 12, and a surface of the base material of the head portion 12 from the joining portion 13 is left exposed.
