MUMBAI, India, Sept. 7 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641104132 A) filed by National Institute Of Technology, Andhra Pradesh on August 29, 2026, for Energy Management System And Method For A Direct-Current Power System With Priority-Based Load Switching.

Inventors include Babu Gummala; and Dr. Sandeep Vuddanti.

The application for the patent was published on September 04, 2026, under issue no. 36/2026.

Abstract: An energy management system (100) and method for a direct-current power system operable in a grid-isolated mode. An energy source (120) and a battery energy storage system (130) are coupled to a common DC bus (110) through a source converter (122) and a bidirectional converter (132). A critical load (142), a semi-critical load (144) and a non-critical load (146) are connected to the DC bus (110) through respective switches (150, 152, 154). A controller (160) classifies an operating condition as surplus, balanced or deficit from a power difference between available source power and load demand, while monitoring the DC-bus voltage, and generates control signals that operate the battery in exactly one of a charging, discharging or idle state within safe limits, hold the critical load connected, and switch the lower- priority loads into only one of three permitted states while prohibiting connection of the non-critical load when the semi-critical load is disconnected.
