MUMBAI, India, Sept. 28 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611092272 A) filed by Manipal University Jaipur on July 30, 2026, for Energy Management Of Grid-Connected Pv–battery Microgrids With Battery-Degradation Cost Modeling And Ev Charging.
Inventors include Smriti Jain; and Dr. Neeraj Kanwar.
The application for the patent was published on September 25, 2026, under issue no. 39/2026.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a forecast-integrated energy management system (100) and method for optimized operation of a grid-connected photovoltaic microgrid comprising a photovoltaic generation subsystem (110), a battery energy storage subsystem (120), an electric vehicle charging subsystem (130) operating in grid-to- vehicle mode, and a grid interface subsystem (140) configured for bidirectional exchange of electrical energy with a utility grid (145). A forecasting engine (150) including a photovoltaic forecasting module (151) and an electric vehicle demand forecasting module (152) generates forecast datasets corresponding to solar irradiance, photovoltaic generation and electric vehicle charging demand over a scheduling horizon. A battery degradation evaluation module (160) determines battery degradation cost using degradation components including charge-discharge rate degradation (161), energy throughput degradation (162), depth-of-discharge degradation (163), state-of-charge stress degradation (164) and temperature-dependent degradation (165). A supervisory energy management controller (170) performs coordinated scheduling and dispatch optimization among the photovoltaic generation subsystem (110), battery energy storage subsystem (120), electric vehicle charging subsystem (130) and utility grid (145) to maximize operational revenue while minimizing battery degradation and improving overall microgrid efficiency. The system may further interface with supervisory control and data acquisition systems (180), energy management systems (181) and distributed energy resource management systems (182) for real-time implementation and control.
